The ghost tree cove is honestly amazing. It's completely, 100% safe there, has tons of resources, has an entrance to the lava zone in the far back, is right next to the junction so you can quickly get to every other lost river sub-biome, and has absolutely stunning views. It's probably my favorite base location hands down.

I found two big rocks just West of the wyvern trench in a little bay. I've built my base spanning the two. There's beaver dams nearby and water to cruise around with my water tames.
