A pre-fit barrel has to have the smallest threads allowed in the tolerance to make sure that it fits the smallest action in the tolerance. This makes for a loose fit in an action that has threads on the large side. Less than half inch groups easy at 50 yds, using good SV ammo. At my age & eyes,I don't shoot as well as I use to. I think a younger fellow would have the ragged hole thing going on!

I have Bartlein barrels on some of my other rifles, but I've never used a Shilen. Shilen makes great quality barrels, but not because the rifling style.
