Dec 30, 2020 · FYI - If you use a Harken 150 or Schaffer 70-17 you will need at least 2.25" hardware to mount through a Hawk Helium stick. I measured and figured I had about 1/4" of threads with a 2" bolt but it didn't work out that way. Barely had enough to thread on the nuts so I have to go back for some 2.25" or 2.5" hardware. I do the buckle-less method and use the webbing strap that comes on it. I had a set of rope modded Helium’s and I like the webbing better. It rolls up around the stick a lot flatter and if you bought the stick you already have the stuff to do it, no need to buy anything else.

I've decided against doing a rope mod for now and sticking with the cam buckle straps. I cut pieces of bicycle inner tube and pulled over the metal buckles. The pressure from the tube prevented the cam from holding so I cut a slits to allow the thumb toggle to fully extend and seat. it now works perfect.That dual step really makes a difference 15-20 feet up trying to hang a stand. Hawk is a Michigan company as well. I will convert the sticks to use the same system the muddy sticks use, in time. The straps that come with the helium's are great for strapping the stick to the tree and stand. Plenty long enough.
